With Microsoft’s new release of Windows 7 many people are considering upgrading from their current operating system (usually XP or Vista). However many people are worried that Windows 7 will just bring them even more hassles than they have with their current operating system just like Vista did when it was first released or that they will louse a large number of documents and files.
Deciding to upgrade is a big step, however my suggestion is you should consider waiting until the first service pack comes out. Service packs are Microsoft’s “big upgrades” between new operating system releases. These often fix bugs and problems that the original upgrade had. While waiting may seem like a disappointment, imagine installing Windows 7 and having a problem that won’t be fixed until after the first service pack is released. It would not only cause you to have to reinstall your old operating system or have to endure countless problems until it is fixed, it would also leave you in a world of trouble if something happened to your files. While Windows 7 comes with a way to upgrade from Vista, it isn’t perfect .
The only exception to my suggestion of waiting to upgrade would be if you’re in need of a new computer. The reason being is that those new computers have been designed to handle any problems Windows 7 may have. Other than that, waiting can save you undue hassle, time and possibly even save you some money when Microsoft lowers the price of Windows 7 in a few months.
In addition, waiting to upgrade can provide you with an opportunity to see how your friends or even family like the new version of Windows. If they enjoy using it and are all for upgrading, it may be time to consider upgrading your machine. After all – there really should be no one you trust more than your family or a close friend.
So have you made the leap to Windows 7 yet? If so, how do you like it?
