Zynga Adds FishVille to its Lineup

Zynga, one of the largest Facebook App developers, has released a barracuda on all you Facebook junkies – FishVille. It’s a late contender on the Fish genre though with games like Happy Aquarium, Fish World, and My Fishbowl already available though. Who really minds when you already control over 200 million Facebook users over all their applications (With their two largest games – FarmVille and Mafia Wars – taking the top 2 spots for most active players on Facebook).

FishVille is monetized in their typical fashion. You can exchange money for in-game coins or sand dollars to purchase exclusive items to decorate your fish tank or purchase more fish. You also have the option to complete surveys or offers to gain these. In the affiliate marketing industry, these are known as incentivized offers, which have come under scrutiny lately.

Facebook App development has become a popular area for new startups looking to make some decent change. However, with companies like Zynga and PlayFish dominating the top, do newer entrepreneurs stand a chance entering the realm? One developer rips off another developer and then one of the larger guys, with a much larger fan base and allowance for marketing rips that off.

Either way, FishVille is another game for you app addicts to join. If you enjoy FarmVille, you’ll probably like this water-logged version of the game.
