Some Twitter Basics

Twitter is one of the fastest growing social networking websites though I prefer calling twitter as ‘mini’ social networking website considering the least amount of features available and the unique style using which people remain connected (tweets as we call them). Though twitter has been growing exponentially but still we all know that many of us end up registering on twitter and then leave it after our initial craze dies down. Haven’t you done this? Didn’t you register into Twitter, followed as many people as you can so that they follow you back, tweeted a lot about your articles, replied to few of the thousand tweets that passed by, and lastly stopped using twitter as you find it useless? Some didn’t understand the meaning of twitter and others didn’t find answers to some of the basic things related to twitter. Well, we cannot help the impatient ones but we can surely try answering back some of the basic questions that you twitter lovers must be aware of.

The TFF Ratio

Now what the heck is that? To be straight, TFF stands for Twitter Followers vs Following. You got 100 followers and you are following 2000! Ain’t that silly? I have seen users doing that just with the dream that they will have plenty of people following them. Even 2000 followers to 2000 following is meaningless. It is nice to follow those who follow you but following everybody just because they are following you is foolishness. At the end of the day it is the reason why you are using twitter that will help you decide whom to follow and whom not to follow. Best way out being that you let your follow increase naturally. Be patient, be original, and be honest. (Just forget the freaking TFF ratio!)

How To Search Something In Twitter?

It is very easy. Like we have yellow pages for various offline stuffs similarly we have Yellow Pages for Twitter, too. It has hundreds of categories which help you narrow down your searches. Just give it a shot and you will surely start understanding the depth of twitter slowly.

What is #?

In twitter # is called as hashtag. Anything that you want to be available for people who are searching for tweets should be started with a #.
