What is PubCon? You must have heard of many international level conferences related to various businesses and different markets. PubCon was started around 8 years back by some of the leading ‘internet webmasters‘ so as to give the Internet industry a platform where they can gather and share stuff. People who participate in PubCon are the A – List webmasters who actually do the stuff that all other ‘so called’ webmasters want to do. Multinational companies want to work with these people and small webmasters want to hear them speak. These people gather at PubCon every year to share their thoughts on how the Internet is changing.
This time, into the 8th year, PubCon was kick started in LasVegas and the eyes of Internet were stuck on this place. Here we have compiled ‘few’ of the many points that were raised by experts in various events that took place at PubCon.
Better Leave Banned Domains and Start All Fresh
If your website has been banned or severely penalized in Google’s search engine result pages then you must better start all fresh instead of planning to fight back and trying to bring the domain back from the gallows. Matt Cutts suggested that it would be better to ‘walk away’ and ‘start over’ instead of spending time meaninglessly. This happens because usually a site has spammy links and it is tough job for someone to sort the spammy links of your site from the original links. How can you expect someone to stop counting only the bad links and continue counting the reliable ones? Even an algorithm will find it tough to differentiate between the two kind of links. You might end up taking less time when it comes to creating a new website than when compared to ask Google to re – consider your website. They every time end up taking ages and then rejecting our requests.
Keywords In Footer Can Be Troubling.
This has been pointed out before by many SEO experts and this issue was again talked about in the recently held PubCon. It is better suggested that you remove any anchor text links from your footer as those links end up generating multiple similar looking links (can be considered as ‘spam’) and this might lead to decrease in your rankings. There have been cases when people have noticed increase in rankings once they remove anchor text from there website footers. Lastly, when Matt Cutts says that you must remove the footer links then you must remove.
Many Sites Targeting The Subsections Of One Particular Niche Means Spam
Yeah! That is very true. If you plan to have or already have multiple websites that target the subsections of your single niche then better use one website for this purpose as Google will end up considering your activity as spam and all your sites might be penalized. Google literally rules the Internet and it is easy for them to guess who owns how many sites.
