Caffeine? Never heard of it? Well, you didn’t as Google never tried to create any kind of buzz for this new technology which is still under the testing phase. Caffeine is something that is designed to improve the indexing infrastructure of Google Search. Google had rolled out the developer preview of this new search technology and had asked for suggestions from its users somewhere in August. Since then this new searching style received much feedback. Many found the new technology more relevant as it returned better search results while few grumbled that their ‘blog’ wasn’t performing well with the new search style called Caffeine!
After taking feedback for months Google has now finally closed the developer preview of Caffeine and has announced that soon they will be implementing this technology in one of their data centers so as to collect the performance data during this holiday season. It is understandable that webmasters (like me and you) can get a little overanxious during these holiday seasons if somebody tells them that their ranking might be altered in search results. Just to assure you this isn’t going to happen Caffeine is being released in just one data cente. That means this is only the testing of this technology and no way will this kick you out of the Google search results. You will hardly notice any changes in your search engine rankings.
But, be prepared that after the holidays are over Google might roll out Caffeine in other data centers too (though they will be doing this gradually). The gradual roll out will help us understand the changes and help them collect more feedback (from some stressed out webmasters or some thrilled in increased ranking). We cannot explain much about this technology as Google hasn’t shared anything related to Caffeine, still if you want to tell something about Caffeine to Google then you can leave a comment for them.
